The Hotel was expanded in 1890 as economic activity flourished, including shipbuilding, oystering and farming. The steamships that plied the Chesapeake Bay provided a steady stream of passengers. The Victorian Bedroom was built for the innkeeper himself in high Victorian Style including red wallpaper with gold edging. Today it is papered with a William Morris pattern and appointed with antiques including a marble-topped mahogany dressing table. It has a private bath (shower only), working fireplace and semi-private access to the screened porch that overlooks the marsh. The bay and side windows look directly onto the river.
